You CAN find the time to workout!

October 5, 2010

Hey y’all! Sorry for not posting all last week. Strep throat will really knock you out! But, I am back to 100% and ready to answer one of the questions I got a couple weeks ago – how do I fit in my workouts?

We all are so busy each and every day that a lot of times other things can take priority over our daily workout. This is a common problem, but I can offer a few tips to help you out.

  1. If you live by your planner or calendar, write in your workouts everyday. Make them non-negotiable just like a meeting or appointment.
  2. If you don’t use a planner, sit down and evaluate each hour of the day. Figure out what time will be best for you to workout. Block out time for work, for housework, for errands, for cooking, for anything that you find yourself involved in. Then, determine the specific time of the day that is open which will become your daily exercise time. Ideally, this should be 30 min-1 hour 5-6 times each week.
  3. Find a workout that you look forward to. I know this may sound crazy, but there is a workout for you, that fits your fitness needs and is fun. For me, it’s Chalene Johnson’s Turbo Fire – a great mix of dance and kickboxing. (check it out here: http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/kristinlynne817?bctid=82703972001 )I’d be happy to help point you in the right direction if you are having a hard time finding the right workout.
  4. If you workout at night, put on your workout clothes as soon as you get home from work. Then, you will have one less excuse for not working out. You’re already dressed for it, so why not!
  5. Just give it 5 minutes. Even when you don’t feel like it or don’t think you have time, start and give it 5 minutes. Once you get into it, you won’t want to stop. 5 minutes is all it takes!

It’s definitely nothing profound or earth-shattering, but it works! Keep trying and keep pushing and I know you will make it! Remember, we’re all on this journey together!
